Iranian Stripped of Cypriot Residency for Selling Property in the TRNC
An Iranian citizen has been deprived of residency status in the Republic of Cyprus for selling property in the northern part of the island.
This information was confirmed over the weekend by the Minister of Interior of the Republic of Cyprus, Konstantinos Ioannou. According to the minister, the residency granted to the Iranian in 2018 based on investments "was revoked due to his illegal use of Greek property in the TRNC and his involvement in the sale of this property."
According to the "Politis" publication, the Iranian applied for permanent residency in 2016 after investing in the republic and obtained the permit in 2018. It is reported that his wife and child were also on the island.
It is alleged that the mentioned foreigner was selling land belonging to Greek Cypriots in the north to third-country nationals through his ex-wife, who works as a real estate agent and permanently resides in the TRNC.
