Due to Christmas events, part of Makariou Avenue in Nicosia will be closed

The Nicosia Municipality has announced that the northern section of Makariou Avenue — between Spyrou Kyprianou Street and Evagorou Street — will be temporarily closed to traffic due to Christmas and New Year events scheduled for December and early January.
When the road will be closed:
Weekends of December 2025 (full closure of the section):
- 6–7 December from 10:00 to 22:00
- 13–14 December from 10:00 to 22:00
- 20–21 December from 10:00 to 22:00
- 27–28 December from 10:00 to 22:00
Additionally:
- 1 January 2026 — from 17:30 to 19:30
- 6 January 2026 — from 19:00 to 00:00
During these periods, the northern part of Makariou Avenue will be closed to general traffic. Access will be maintained only for local residents and drivers with special permits and documents confirming their address. They will be directed by traffic police officers.
