Jet2 records drop in Cyprus holiday bookings
British airline Jet2 has reported a decline in the number of bookings for trips to Cyprus amid Middle East tensions and the conflict involving Iran.
The company's CEO, Steve Heapy, stated that demand for travel to Cyprus and Turkey has decreased significantly, while the number of cancellations has increased. According to him, many flights on these routes are now seeing lower load factors than expected.
Meanwhile, tourists are increasingly opting for the Western Mediterranean, including Spain and Italy, which are currently perceived as more stable holiday destinations.
Despite the dip in demand, Jet2 continues to operate flights to Cyprus and is working with hotels and travel agencies to reassure travelers that the island remains a safe place for a holiday.
The company believes the situation could change quickly—once the conflict subsides, bookings for Cyprus and Turkey could see a sharp recovery.
