Cyprus, Greece, France, and Italy Launch Joint Air Exercises
Cyprus, Greece, France, and Italy are kicking off joint air exercises called "Eunomia 5 – 2024." The drills will begin on Thursday, September 12, and will run for a week.
The exercises will feature both maritime and aerial operations, including maritime interdiction, cyber warfare, air and naval combat, and search-and-rescue as well as evacuation missions.
Coordinated by Greece, the maneuvers will take place in the eastern Mediterranean and the surrounding airspace from September 12 to 18.
This marks the fifth consecutive year of these exercises, part of an initiative by Cyprus, Greece, France, and Italy to bolster security and stability in the region and ensure freedom of navigation.
The primary aim of the exercises is to enhance mutual understanding and operational coordination among the participating air forces.
The Ministry of Defense highlighted that the cooperation among the four nations demonstrates a shared commitment to upholding the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea and international law.
