Cyprus Secures €30 Million from EU for Border Control Enhancements
Cyprus is set to receive €30 million in additional funding from the European Commission to modernize its coastal surveillance system as part of broader efforts to manage migration effectively.
A press release from the Ministry of the Interior outlined that the upgrade aims to "prevent cross-border crime and illegal immigration."
"The European Commission is providing extra support to member states like Cyprus, with the ultimate goal of effectively managing migration flows," the press release noted.
Cyprus' initiative, titled "Upgrading Surveillance System Capabilities," will significantly boost "electronic surveillance" along the country's maritime borders.
The project, a collaboration between the Ministry of the Interior of Cyprus and the Search and Rescue Coordination Center, was selected from among numerous proposals submitted to the European Commission.
