Cyprus has allocated additional aid to farmers and fishermen in isolated areas

The authorities of Cyprus have allocated nearly €1 million to support farmers, livestock breeders, and fishermen who live and work in isolated and hard-to-reach areas of the island. This concerns the so-called “enclaved” and resettled communities, where conditions for economic activity remain particularly difficult.
In 2025, around 300 people will receive financial assistance. The funds are intended to support agricultural activities, upgrade equipment, and compensate part of the expenses.
Separately, the authorities have launched a one-time investment program, the conditions of which have been significantly improved:
— the maximum amount of aid has been increased to €20,000 per beneficiary;
— VAT on agricultural machinery is now taken into account in calculations, reducing the financial burden on producers.
The ministry emphasizes that the goal of the program is to help people preserve their farms, income, and presence in these regions despite isolation and limited opportunities.
