Cypriots are flying Wizz Air more often
The Hungarian budget airline Wizz Air has announced a significant increase in the number of Cypriot passengers in 2023. The growth compared to the previous year was 71%.
According to the airline's statement, last year 2.2 million Cypriots used the services of the airline, which "underscores the significant growth of the customer base on the island."
In 2023, the airline operated 11,603 flights to and from Cyprus. For comparison, in 2022 there were 6,826 such flights.
Additionally, Wizz Air demonstrated high operational efficiency, achieving an impressive on-time performance rate of 99.63% for all flights.
The airline operates flights to 31 destinations in 18 countries, and its fleet of four aircraft is based in Larnaca.
It is worth noting that in total, in 2023, the low-cost carrier served more than 60 million passengers, which is 32% more than in 2022. This is a record figure for the airline.
It is also worth noting that earlier it was reported that the airline "Cyprus Airways" intends to double its fleet of Airbus A220 aircraft in 2024 with the addition of two new aircraft.
