Cypriot Passport Drops Two Spots in Henley & Partners 2025 Ranking
Henley & Partners, an international consulting firm, has released its 2025 World Passport Index, revealing that the Republic of Cyprus' passport has dropped two places, now ranked 14th. The index evaluates 199 passports based on their holders' access to 227 destinations worldwide.
According to the report, Cypriot passport holders can travel visa-free to 179 countries, down from 182 last year. For travel to 47 other countries, Cypriots need to apply for a visa.
Since the Henley Passport Index began tracking rankings in 2006, the Cypriot passport has experienced several fluctuations. The passport reached its highest position in 2024, ranking 12th. During the financial and banking crisis in 2012, it ranked as low as 20th.
Taking the top spot in the 2025 Henley & Partners rankings is Singapore, whose passport allows visa-free entry to 195 countries. Japan follows in second place with 193 destinations, while Finland, France, Germany, Italy, South Korea, and Spain share third place, each granting access to 192 visa-free destinations.
At the bottom of the index are Syria and Afghanistan, with passport holders able to visit only 26 countries without a visa.
