False bomb threat message leads to evacuation of two schools in Paphos

On September 10 in Paphos, an incident occurred in which two schools were evacuated after receiving a false message about planted explosive devices. The targets of this questionable prank were Kykkos High School, located in Paphos city, and Nicolaideio Middle School, located nearby.
The threat message was sent via email, claiming that a bomb was present in the school buildings. Upon receiving the information, the administration and police decided on an immediate evacuation. Students, teachers, and staff left the schools in an organized manner and without panic. Explosive ordnance disposal teams and canine units arrived on site and thoroughly inspected the premises. No explosive devices or suspicious objects were found, and the message was deemed false.
Law enforcement authorities have launched an investigation to identify the sender of the false message. Under Cypriot law, such actions are considered a serious crime and may result in criminal penalties.
The incident caused concern among parents, teachers, and the local community. At the same time, it demonstrated the effectiveness of emergency services and school administration, which were able to ensure the safety of students and staff promptly. Authorities emphasized that even deliberately false threats are treated as real, and responses to them will always be taken as seriously as possible.
