THE MINISTRY OF EDUCATION SUPPORTS THE DECISION TO EXPEL STUDENTS FROM PAPHOS SCHOOL
On Friday, the Ministry of Education supported the decision of the association of teachers of the Technical School of Paphos to expel six students. However, the authorities allowed the expelled students to enroll in other educational institutions in Paphos.
In a conversation with the Cyprus News Agency (CNA), the school's director, Stefanos Eleftheriou, noted that the Ministry of Education considered the actions of the association of teachers of the Technical School of Paphos appropriate. He also added that most of the six expelled students have already applied for enrollment in other schools. Some of them may start classes as early as Monday.
Recall that at the beginning of last week, it was reported that six students were expelled from the Technical School of Paphos for poor behavior.
Presumably, the students were involved in an incident that occurred about 20 days ago, during which two other students suffered serious injuries. In addition, one of them threw a chair at the head of a teacher, who ended up in the hospital.
The expulsion of the six students caused dissatisfaction among other students, and dozens of students from various schools staged a protest.
