Scammers are massively sending messages demanding payment for electricity bills

New cases of false notifications being sent to electricity consumers.
The EAC has reported new cases of emails being sent to consumers. These messages claim that the electricity bill remains unpaid, with the following subject line:
“FINAL NOTICE: Unpaid Electricity Bill 11256285404 – Risk of Disconnection”, urging the recipient to follow the attached link and proceed with payment.
The EAC warned that it does not send such messages and that they constitute an attempt at electronic fraud (phishing).
The agency urges the public to be especially cautious with emails containing links or attachments, as they may lead to deceptive or malicious websites, regardless of their initial appearance.
