Paphos Municipality to Enhance Beach Greening
Paphos Municipality is planning a series of changes to improve the appearance and infrastructure of the coastal zone. The main priority for this year will be increasing green areas on the city's beaches.
According to the municipality, plans include planting trees, laying lawns, and creating small green zones along the coast to enhance the waterfront's look and make beaches more comfortable for relaxation.
The Chairman of the Beach Committee, Efklidis Amvrosiadis, noted that green areas on beaches had long been neglected, and authorities now intend to actively pursue their development.
Over the past two years, significant work has already been carried out on Paphos beaches, specifically:
- Replacement of lifeguard towers,
- Installation of sand cleaning equipment,
- Acquisition of additional electric vehicles for beach maintenance.
The municipality has also increased its staff, hiring cleaners and maintenance workers for beaches, including popular spots like SODAP Beach and the Municipal Baths.
Additionally, authorities plan to renovate the municipal baths after the tourist season ends. The construction of several new public toilets along the coast is also being considered, including one near the Olympic Lagoon Resort Paphos.
