Strovolos Municipality Offers Discounted Cat Sterilization
As part of its local animal welfare initiative, Strovolos Municipality has announced that residents will be able to sterilize their cats at discounted rates. This offer will be available from November to December at participating private veterinary clinics partnered with the municipality.
According to the announcement, pet guardians will cover sterilization costs at rates set by the municipality: 40 euros plus VAT for female cats and 25 euros plus VAT for male cats.
The program is intended for Strovolos residents who care for multiple street cats. To apply, residents can complete an online form and provide proof of address, such as a utility bill, to the municipality. Applications are open until Monday, November 18.
In 2024, with the support of volunteers, the municipality allocated 12,000 euros for sterilizations in areas facing issues with cat overpopulation, prioritizing Agios Dimitrios, Akropolis, and Strovolos parks.
Additionally, the municipality has streamlined the process for submitting pest control requests by moving it online. This allows for quicker and more efficient handling of requests for insect and rodent control services for residents.
Residents can enter their details on the city’s website to automatically notify the Public Health and Sanitation Department to arrange for pest control services.
This pest control service is available for residential properties within Strovolos and is free of charge.
