The Minister of Defense of the United Kingdom arrives in Cyprus
On Wednesday, the Minister of Defense of the United Kingdom, Grant Shapps, arrived in Cyprus. During his visit to the island, the politician will hold meetings with officials and personnel at the British bases of the United Kingdom.
According to local media, the British minister's trip to Cyprus is part of a regional tour, during which Grant Shapps will also visit the Palestinian territories and Israel. The Chief of the British Armed Forces, Admiral Sir Tony Radakin, accompanies the politician.
"The Royal Air Force bases in Cyprus are a very important asset. They are used, for example, to support our military in this region," said the minister, speaking in the British Parliament before the visit to Cyprus.
