In Cyprus, March 25th marks the Independence Day of Greece: program of events

On Monday, March 25th, the Republic of Cyprus celebrates the Independence Day of Greece. Solemn parades and other festive events will take place in all major cities.

At 10:00, a Solemn Liturgy will be held at the Holy Church of Panagia Faneromeni in Nicosia, presided over by Archbishop Georgios of Cyprus. The ceremony will be attended by President Nikos Christodoulidis, Minister of Education, Sports, and Youth Afina Michailidou, Parliament Speaker Annita Dimitriou, and Greek Ambassador Ioannis Papamelitu.

At 11:00, the President of the Republic, accompanied by ministers and top officials of the country, will attend the parade salute from the platform in front of the parliament building.

The parade will involve veterans, university students, high school students, scouts, civic unions, and organizations.

At 12:30, the President will attend a reception hosted by the Greek Ambassador at the embassy residence.

Solemn events will also take place in other cities of the country: ministers and government members will attend solemn services in churches and temples in various districts of Limassol, Ayia Napa, Paphos, and Larnaca.

Ministers and other officials will also participate in services and parades in municipalities and communities throughout Cyprus.

March 25th is celebrated as Independence Day in Greece. Today is an official holiday in the Republic of Cyprus. On March 25th, government offices, banks, schools, and kindergartens will be closed. Only emergency pharmacies will be open in Cyprus today. Supermarkets and stores in shopping centers will operate on regular hours.

However, on March 25th, owners of shopping centers and stores that will operate on the holiday must pay their hourly workers double the regular wage.
