In Cyprus, the acceptance of applications for obtaining work visas for the tourism sector for the year 2024 has begun
From December 1, the Ministry of Labour of the Republic of Cyprus has begun accepting applications for the issuance of work visas for third-country nationals in the tourism sector for the year 2024. In this way, the authorities aim to address the issue of the shortage of human resources in this industry.
The issue of employment in the hotel sector for third-country nationals was discussed on December 4 at a meeting with the President of the country, Nikos Christodoulidis, and the leadership of the All-Cyprus Hotel Owners Association (PASYXE). Ministers of Labour, Yannis Panayiotou, and Tourism, Costas Kummis, were present at the meeting. The talks focused on the shortage of personnel in the hotel business.
According to the Phileleftheros publication, the main task facing the Ministry of Labour is to issue permits for the employment of foreigners to hotels and travel agencies before the onset of the high tourist season, ensuring that the industry is adequately staffed with trained personnel.
The Department of Labour Relations, Social Policy, and Human Resource Development (KEBE) reported that as of Friday, December 1, 2023, the Public Employment Service of the Department of Labour (district labour offices) of the Ministry of Labour and Social Welfare is accepting applications for the employment of staff for the 2024 tourist season.
Employers (companies) operating in the hotel and catering sector can notify about vacancies either through the online platform of the Public Employment Service (www.pescps.dl.mlsi.gov.cy) or by submitting a vacancy notification form available on the Ministry of Labour website (www.mlsi.gov.cy/dl).
