Cyprus Issues "Yellow" Weather Warning Due to Severe Weather
On Friday evening, the Meteorological Department of the Republic of Cyprus issued a “yellow” weather warning, primarily affecting the island's mountainous and southern regions.
According to the weather service, strong thunderstorms with hail and heavy rain are expected from 12:00 to 18:00 on Friday.
The worst of the weather is anticipated to hit the mountainous and inland areas, with possible impacts in the southern parts of the island as well.
Rainfall is expected to range between 30 and 55 millimeters per hour.
In addition, previous forecasts suggest that variable cloud cover will persist over the weekend, with showers likely around midday and in the early afternoon, especially in the mountainous regions. While storms are possible, temperatures are expected to rise slightly by Sunday, reaching above-average levels, with no major changes predicted for Monday.
