A storm warning has been issued for Cyprus due to severe thunderstorms: weather forecast for January 29th
According to the Department of Meteorology of the Republic of Cyprus, on Monday, January 29th, an "orange" storm warning has been issued for the region. It will be in effect until Wednesday evening. A low-pressure system, organized southwest of Cyprus, is slowly moving eastward and will affect the island until Thursday.
Today, in the first half of the day, the weather will be predominantly cloudy, with isolated showers and thunderstorms, mainly along the coasts. However, towards noon, local showers and isolated storms are possible in other parts of the country. Snowfall is expected in mountainous areas.
According to the meteorological service forecast, during the day today, the air temperature will reach up to 12°C in inland areas, up to 16°C on the coast, and down to 4°C in mountainous areas, where frost will prevail in some places.
By evening and night, the weather will be predominantly cloudy with local showers, and isolated storms will also be observed, mainly along the coast. Locally, especially on the southeast coast, the consequences of the bad weather can be serious. Snowfall is expected in highlands and possibly locally in lower mountains.
The air temperature will drop to about 5°C in inland areas, down to 8°C on the coasts, and down to 2°C in mountainous areas. Frost formation is expected in the mountains, foothills, and in some inland areas of the country.
Until Wednesday, the temperature will not change significantly and will fluctuate below the average climatic values, and on Thursday, it will slightly increase.
