Short rains expected in the mountains of Cyprus and a return of dust from Monday
Meteorologist Andreas Chryssanthou stated on the “Alpha Kalimera” program on October 17, 2025, that Cyprus will experience mostly clear weather in the coming days, with temperatures around the seasonal average.
According to him, cloud cover may increase on Sunday, possibly bringing isolated light showers mainly in the western parts of the island. From Monday, a slight change in weather conditions is expected: a weak influence of a high-pressure field will cause mild instability and local cloud formations, resulting in short rains in the mountainous areas until the end of next week.
The meteorologist also noted the return of light dust to the atmosphere starting Monday, which may make the sky appear hazier. Temperatures on Monday are expected to rise slightly.
Detailed short-term forecast: mostly clear today, with some areas of increased cloudiness. Winds light and variable at first, around 3 Beaufort, later mainly southwest to northwest, 3–4 Beaufort. Sea smooth to slight. Daytime temperatures around 28°C inland and on the southern and eastern coasts, about 26°C on the western and northern coasts, and around 19°C in the mountains. Overnight lows around 14°C inland, about 17°C on the coasts, and around 8°C in the mountains.
