In Cyprus, Underwater Santas Celebrated Christmas on the Sunken Ship
In Cyprus, divers dressed as Santa Claus celebrated Christmas underwater on the sunken ship "Nemesis" off the coast of Protaras. This marks the 17th consecutive year that divers have celebrated the holiday in this unique way.
This year, the Summer Divers Club continued the tradition started in 2007, supporting the annual underwater celebration.
Every Christmas, divers don Santa Claus costumes, exchange gifts, decorate a Christmas tree, and enjoy champagne underwater, celebrating the holiday in such a unique and unusual way.
The Summer Divers Club was founded in June 2006 by NAUI instructor Haralambos Konstantinou.
