Cyclone Elena Continues to Batter Cyprus: Weather Forecast for December 26
Cyclone Elena, currently centered over Crete, is moving eastward and will continue affecting Cyprus until Friday, according to the Meteorology Department of the Republic of Cyprus.
Morning Weather:
This morning, the island will experience mostly cloudy skies with occasional local showers and isolated thunderstorms, though there will be brief periods of clearer weather. During storms, hail and strong winds are possible, while the higher mountains are expected to see snowfall. Some areas may also be shrouded in fog.
Daytime Temperatures:
Daytime highs are expected to reach around 17°C inland and along the coasts, and 5°C in the mountains, where freezing conditions persist.
Evening Weather:
Tonight, the weather will remain cloudy with sporadic showers and isolated thunderstorms. Hail and strong winds may occur during storms, and snowfall will continue in the mountainous regions. Currently, the snow depth in Troodos is 2 cm.
Nighttime Temperatures:
Temperatures overnight will drop to about 6°C inland, 10°C along the coast, and 1°C in the mountains, where frost is expected to form.
Friday Outlook:
On Friday, the weather will stay mostly cloudy with local showers and isolated thunderstorms. However, conditions are expected to improve significantly by the evening. Temperatures will dip slightly, remaining just below seasonal averages.
