Voting in the presidential elections of the Russian Federation took place in Cyprus
In the Republic of Cyprus, the three-day voting in the presidential elections of the Russian Federation concluded on March 17th. Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Russian Federation to the Republic of Cyprus, Murat Zyazikov, shared information about how the elections were conducted on the island.
According to the diplomat, polling stations operated in the largest cities of the island - Nicosia, Larnaca, Limassol, Paphos, and Ayia Napa.
- Both youth and veterans, large families, and those who have recently become citizens of our country came to cast their votes for the future of Russia. Our diplomats themselves went out to those who, due to objective reasons - due to venerable age or health conditions - could not personally visit the polling stations organized by the embassy, - said the diplomat.
According to the head of the diplomatic mission, the electoral process was carried out in full compliance with the legislative norms of the Russian Federation and with the observance of the necessary security measures.
The Ambassador noted that numerous Russians residing in Cyprus, with a single impulse, demonstrated genuine civic responsibility for the fate of their homeland: the final voter turnout at our polling stations broke all records.
- I express sincere gratitude to all of you, dear compatriots, who took part in the voting at this historic moment, thus participating in the choice of a sovereign, secure, and prosperous future for our great multinational country, the Russian Federation!, - said Murat Zyazikov in his address.
It is worth noting that according to the Central Election Commission of Russia, after processing more than 99% of the protocols in the presidential elections of the country, the incumbent head of state Vladimir Putin garnered 87.31% of the votes. The voter turnout in the elections was 74.22%.
His opponents collectively received less than 13% of the votes. In second place is Nikolai Haritonov (4.30% of the votes), in third - Vladislav Davankov (3.83%), in fourth - Leonid Slutsky (3.21%).
