Cyprus Rings in the New School Year
Today, the Republic of Cyprus welcomed the start of the new school year as the first bell rang for children attending public primary schools and kindergartens.
This academic year, Cyprus will have 329 primary schools in operation, accommodating a total of 51,590 students. These students will be taught by 5,044 teachers.
Additionally, 274 kindergartens have opened their doors, with 13,117 children starting their early education. There are 1,033 educators working in these kindergartens.
For special education, there will be 9 special schools and 145 specialized education units. Eighteen students will attend the Rizokarpasos Primary School, while another 11 children will join the local kindergarten.
To celebrate the start of the school year for primary and preschool education, Athena Michaelidou, the Minister of Education, Sports, and Youth, visited the Kato Pyrgos Tylliria Primary School and Kindergarten, as well as the local secondary school.
It's worth noting that classes for secondary and general education schools in Cyprus began on Friday, September 6.
