Unemployment rises again in Cyprus: the number of registered unemployed exceeds 10,000 people
In July 2025, Cyprus recorded an increase in the number of registered unemployed. According to seasonally adjusted data, the total number of unemployed reached 10,081 people, which is higher than the June figure (9,947 people).
According to the Statistical Service, the total number of unemployed registered at district employment offices at the end of July reached 11,088 people. This confirms the ongoing rise in unemployment.
Despite the current increase, there is a positive trend in year-on-year comparison: compared to July 2024, the number of unemployed decreased by 789 people, or 6.6%. The decrease is mainly due to reductions in unemployment in the fields of education, construction, manufacturing, financial and insurance services, as well as among those entering the labor market for the first time.
Thus, despite positive annual trends, a worrying rise in unemployment has been observed in recent months, requiring attention from government bodies and employers.
