In Cyprus, the tax declaration deadline is September 30 — penalties and procedure
The deadline for submitting tax declarations in Cyprus is September 30, reported Eirini Ioannou, an employee of the tax department, on the "Information Now" program on the Omega (OMEGA) channel.
According to her, about 200,000 people have submitted their declarations so far, which is roughly 60% of last year’s total declarations. Citizens with an annual gross income above €19,500 are required to submit a declaration.
Eirini Ioannou clarified that a fixed fine of €100 is imposed for late submission. Additionally, interest of 10% is charged on tax arrears until full payment is made.
Declarations are submitted via the TAXISnet system. To register, a tax registration number (AFM) is required; an access request is made through the Taxforall service, where applicants receive credentials for working in the system.
For a declaration to be considered submitted, it must not remain in temporary save status. If an error is discovered after submission, the taxpayer can return the declaration to temporary status, make corrections, and submit it again as final.
Practical recommendation for Cyprus residents: if you do not have an AFM or access to the system, immediately request access through Taxforall and submit the declaration by September 30 to avoid fines and interest charges.
