Cyprus to Launch Ten New Digital Services
Residents of the Republic of Cyprus will soon gain access to ten new digital services provided by the Population Registry Department. These services include issuing birth certificates, passports, and document verification.
Through the Gov.cy portal, individuals will be able to apply for reissuing birth and death certificates, as well as consular birth and death certificates. Additionally, applications can be submitted for issuing or renewing adult identity cards and passports, certificates of permanent residence, and student origin certificates.
Furthermore, citizens will have access to a list of certificates issued to them and the ability to verify the authenticity of these documents using QR codes and unique verification numbers, eliminating the need for printed copies.
Initially available in Greek, these digital services will soon also be accessible in English.
"Our goal, with the support of the Deputy Minister for Research, is to fully digitize the Civil Registry, aiming to reduce service times and create a modern, user-friendly state for our citizens," stated Minister of Internal Affairs Konstantinos Ioannou.
The new government portal, gov.cy, is expected to launch soon, with plans to roll out a citizen digital application within the year.
