Road Safety Week Launched in Cyprus
The Cyprus Police have announced the start of Road Safety Awareness Week, focusing particularly on identifying drivers under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
Road Safety Week will run from Monday to Saturday. During this period, the police will increase the number of road checks and tests to reduce the number of people driving while intoxicated.
The campaign is being conducted in coordination with the European RoadPol network, with similar awareness weeks taking place across Europe.
According to the police, driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs is one of the leading causes of serious road accidents. From 2021 to 2023, 23.4% of fatal accidents occurred due to these reasons.
