In Cyprus, new traffic surveillance cameras are being installed
New stationary cameras for monitoring traffic violators will be introduced in Cyprus, specifically in Larnaca, Paphos, and five other locations across the country.
According to local media reports, in Larnaca, some cameras have already been installed, and they are expected to start operating from December 15. Initially, 10 cameras will be activated, followed by an additional four.
Four cameras are set up at the intersection of Spirou Kyprianou Avenue and Luther King Street, another four at the junction of Artemidos Avenue and Faneromeni Street, and two at the intersection of Archbishop Makarios Avenue and Phileas Cigaridi Street. In the second phase, four more cameras will be installed at the intersection of Eleftherias Avenue with Ellados Avenue and Spirou Kyprianou Avenue in Aradippou.
In Paphos, 14 new cameras will be put into operation in the first quarter of 2024 by a private company that won the tender. These cameras will be located at intersections such as Euripis Avenue with Yannu Kranidioti and Georgiou Savva Streets (four cameras), Ellados Avenue with Dimokratias and Tasou Papadopoulou Avenues (4), Athinon Avenue and Christodoulou Sozou Street (2), and Spirou Kyprianou and Agion Anargyron Avenues with Agapinoros Street (4).
Additionally, it is reported that in 2024, stationary cameras will be installed in five more locations: along the Larnaca–Dhekelia coastal road, near the village of Mazotos (Larnaca region), on Archangelos Avenue in Nicosia, and on the Vertical Road in Limassol, connecting the highway to the New Port.
