Cyprus will install 50 waste recycling stalls in rural areas
The authorities of the Republic of Cyprus plan to install waste recycling kiosks in rural areas of the country. In total, 50 “green stalls” will be established in small villages.
According to the Department of the Environment, temporary recycling points will be set up in rural areas from Nicosia to Famagusta for 25 months. In this way, the authorities aim to encourage efforts in waste recycling. For this purpose, the Department has signed a contract with Mesogeios Digital to implement the Green Pavilion project, costing 3,274,000 euros.
According to the project developers from the National Technical University of Athens, the kiosks serve as compact recycling centers. They are designed to accept various materials suitable for secondary processing, including paper, cardboard, plastic, glass, and metal.
In addition, citizens will be able to deposit reusable items such as clothing, shoes, toys, CDs, and books for storage.
The project is planned to be completed by the first half of 2026.
