In Cyprus, 58 summer schools will open this year
This year, summer public schools will continue operating in Cyprus. From June 25th to July 26th, 58 educational institutions will be in operation across five provinces.
Summer schools are established on the island to provide learning opportunities and creative activities for students, particularly for children from vulnerable population groups.
Out of the 58 schools, 37 are primary schools, while the remaining are preschools. During this period, these educational facilities will operate daily from 7:45 am to 1:05 pm, with extended hours until 4:00 pm for children opting for additional learning.
Children can either bring breakfast from home or purchase it at the school canteen. For those staying past 1:05 pm, lunch will be provided from 1:05 pm to 1:45 pm, with advance payment being mandatory.
The Ministry of Education reminds parents that only children attending state primary schools in grades 1-5 this academic year are eligible to participate. Sixth-grade children cannot fill out the participation declaration as they complete primary education on June 19th.
It is also noted that admission to summer state preschools is restricted to children who attended state preschools and were born between January 9, 2017, and December 31, 2018, as well as those who attended preschool classes with absences.
Additionally, this year, within the framework of the summer schools, a program for learning the Greek language for children of immigrant origin will be implemented. This program has been operational in the country for four years.
