In Cyprus, a high level of dust warning has been issued again
The Department of Labour Inspection of the Republic of Cyprus issued a warning on Thursday about high dust concentrations in the atmosphere. The population is urged to be vigilant and avoid open spaces until the dust settles.
First and foremost, the warning applies to all vulnerable groups of the population - children, elderly citizens, disabled individuals, and people suffering from respiratory diseases.
"It is strongly recommended to avoid outdoor activities until the dust settles, as the small size of inhaled dust particles can have negative health effects," the department's statement said.
According to the department, employers should take appropriate organizational and/or technical measures after assessing any risks their employees may face when working in open spaces. Employees in such areas are advised to use appropriate personal protective equipment.
It was previously reported that the dust may settle as early as tonight.
