In Cyprus, the first case of heatstroke this year has been recorded: the victim is in the hospital
Following the onset of abnormal heat in Cyprus, the first case of heatstroke this year has been recorded. An elderly man is in critical condition in the hospital.
According to medical services, the 63-year-old man who suffered heatstroke was admitted to a general hospital in Nicosia with severe symptoms and is currently receiving necessary treatment. No further details about the victim are provided. According to doctors, his condition has slightly improved by morning.
Doctors also note that this is the first incident recorded this year following multiple warnings from the Meteorological Service about the abnormal heat.
Due to the persistently high temperatures in the region, state hospitals and the Ministry of Health are monitoring the situation and are on heightened alert. Earlier, heavy outdoor work during daytime hours was banned in Cyprus.
Today, the air temperature will rise again to 44°C. The Meteorological Service has issued a new orange alert, which will be in effect from 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
