In Cyprus, the process of renewing licenses for rented accommodations has begun
The Ministry of Tourism of the Republic of Cyprus has announced the commencement of the license renewal process for rented accommodations, including villas, houses, and apartments. This procedure will be exclusively conducted through an online platform.
According to the relevant legislation, applicants must submit their renewal license applications within three months prior to the expiration of their current registration license. The renewed license will be valid for five years.
The fee for both initial registration and license renewal is set at 222 euros.
The department also emphasized that late renewal applications will not be accepted. In such cases, applicants will need to reapply for registration permission, providing all the necessary documents required for initial registration. This re-registration will be valid for only three years.
Under the "Law on the Regulation of Hotel and Tourist Accommodation Operation and Management," business owners or operators of each accommodation facility, including villas, houses, and apartments, are permitted to advertise or rent out their properties if they are properly registered in the register of accommodation facilities with their own kitchens and have obtained registration permission and a registration number from the Ministry of Tourism.
Furthermore, in accordance with the provisions of the relevant legislation, anyone found maintaining or managing accommodation facilities without a registration license or whose registration license has been revoked will be committing an offense.
Offenders may face up to one year in prison or a fine of no more than 5,000 euros, or both. For repeat offenders, a fine of up to 200 euros per day may be imposed.
