More than 4000 New Voters Registered for European Parliament Elections in Cyprus
More than 4000 new voters have registered for the upcoming European Parliament elections in Cyprus. Among the new voters, 1386 are Europeans residing in Cyprus, while the rest are individuals who have reached the age of 18.
Voters are divided into three groups eligible to participate in different elections: Cypriots, Cypriot-Turks, and Europeans.
According to the Chief Executive Officer, Menelaos Vasilou, there are currently 569,086 registered voters in Cyprus, including 557,578 on the permanent voters' list, including 735 Turkish Cypriots.
"We have a special electoral list of European citizens residing in Cyprus, which currently consists of 12,945 people, a list of Europeans voting in European elections - 9,224 people, as well as Turkish Cypriots residing in the occupied territories, which currently consists of 82,925 people," he added.
The deadline for registration to participate in the elections varies between April 2 and April 24. Additional information can be found here.
Recall that on June 9, elections for members of the European Parliament and local authorities will be held, including mayors, deputy mayors, members of municipal councils, community leaders, members of community councils, district self-government presidents, and school council members.
On the day of voting, about 1850 polling stations will be opened, including in Greece, Belgium, and England.
According to preliminary estimates, the budget for the electoral campaign will amount to 6,650,000 euros.
