Another Earthquake Recorded in Southwest Cyprus
A second earthquake within a day was recorded in Cyprus, with tremors felt yesterday evening in the island's southwest.
According to the Meteorology Department’s Seismology Service, the earthquake registered a magnitude of 4.6 on the Richter scale. It was recorded around 6:43 p.m. and located approximately 290 kilometers from the Lefke seismic station.
Preliminary data shows that the epicenter was offshore, southwest of Cyprus, at an estimated depth of 9 kilometers. The coordinates of the epicenter are 33.63°N latitude and 30.15°E longitude.
No casualties or structural damage have been reported.
This follows a previous earthquake, recorded a day earlier, with a magnitude of 3.8, which struck in the Mediterranean Sea near the Karpas coast.
