Drugs from Thailand Seized in a Parcel of Grains at Larnaca Airport
The Customs Department at Larnaca Airport has confiscated drugs hidden inside a postal package filled with grains. The parcel, which contained an unexpected surprise, had been sent to Cyprus from Thailand.
According to the police press office, customs officers at the postal exchange point in Larnaca Airport conducted a physical inspection of a package imported from Thailand. During the search, they discovered and seized 1 kilogram and 60 grams of dried plant material (cannabis), which had been carefully concealed inside two bags of grains.
The seized drugs were handed over to the Anti-Narcotics Unit (YKAN) for further investigation and to identify the recipient. On Monday, after further investigation, the recipient of the package was identified and arrested. The recipient is a 58-year-old Syrian man.
