Wine and Culture Week: Limassol prepares for a major celebration
Limassol once again hosts the famous Wine Festival — in 2025 it will be held for the 64th time. From September 27 to October 5, the city’s municipal gardens will turn into a hub of wine tastings, cultural events, and family entertainment.
The official opening will take place on the evening of September 27 at the “Vraka Man” statue around 20:00. The program includes performances by Demetris Mesimeris, Freideriki Tombazou, Riana Athanasiou, and Paris Paraschos under the artistic direction of Aris Antoniades. Later, at the municipal gardens’ theater, singers Pantelis Thalassinos and Irini Toumbaki will give a concert conducted by Admitos Pitsillidis.
Every evening guests will enjoy parallel cultural programs: concerts, theatrical performances, folk dances, and musical shows. Already on opening day at 19:30, the Limassol municipal brass band will perform near the “Vraka Man” statue. On the festival’s first Sunday at 20:00 illusionist Liotatis will appear, followed at 21:00 by a Cretan folk music concert with the Zidros cultural club.
A special highlight will be a concert dedicated to women in the rebetiko style, featuring renowned instrumentalists and vocalists. In the following days, visitors will see folklore ensembles, theater troupes, cartoon and photography exhibitions, as well as pottery workshops. For children, there will be plays, animation programs, and photo zones.
Organizers emphasize that the festival is conceived not only as a platform for promoting Cypriot wines, including the famous “Commandaria” and “Zivania,” but also as an event that unites music, art, and gastronomy. Visitors will be offered traditional Cypriot dishes harmoniously paired with tastings.
The Limassol Wine Festival has been held since 1961 and is considered one of Cyprus’s key cultural traditions. It attracts thousands of locals and tourists, helping to preserve and promote the island’s winemaking heritage.
Venue: Municipal Gardens, Limassol, Cyprus.
