Brief Power Outage Affects Several Areas of Cyprus Due to EAC Power Plant Malfunction
Several areas across Cyprus experienced a temporary power outage this morning following a malfunction at a Vasilikos power plant unit operated by the Electricity Authority of Cyprus (EAC). The outage caused brief electricity disruptions in all districts.
As a precaution, the electricity transmission system operator temporarily cut power supply after detecting the issue. The outage also led to temporary malfunctions at traffic lights.
According to Christina Papadopoulou, spokesperson for the EAC, the power cut lasted only a few minutes.
Backup units at the Vasilikos power station were quickly activated, and electricity is now being gradually restored to all affected areas.
