Dutch fitness trends have begun to reshape equipment and training formats in gyms and wellness centres across Cyprus, Cyprus Mail reported on October 31.

According to the publication, gym owners in Limassol and Nicosia are increasingly installing modular and compact equipment that allows for full workouts in limited space. Examples include folding benches, compact power racks, kettlebells, and suspension straps for functional training.

The online store PadiSport notes growing international demand for compact and multifunctional accessories: resistance bands, dumbbell sets, and portable exercise machines. This makes imports from the Netherlands relevant for local operators.

There is also an increase in short high-intensity group workouts in the Dutch style, using minimal portable equipment. Wellness centres and physiotherapy clinics in Paphos and Larnaca are introducing recovery tools — rollers, massagers, and balance balls — inspired by practices in the Netherlands.

For residents, this means more accessible workout formats, the ability to visit gyms equipped with European-style equipment, and convenience for Dutch tourists familiar with such programs. For entrepreneurs, it means improved service quality and enhanced market competitiveness.
