New Year holidays in Cyprus passed with dozens of emergency calls

During the New Year holidays, the Cyprus Fire Service operated in an enhanced mode. According to the official representative of the department, Andreas Kettis, emergency units responded to 34 calls across the country.
Of these, 11 incidents were related to fires, while another 23 involved technical and other emergency situations.
In the Famagusta district, shortly before midnight, firefighters extinguished two motorcycles that caught fire in a square in Deryneia — the vehicles were completely destroyed. Later, at around 01:17, a large garbage container caught fire in the center of Paralimni. According to preliminary data, the fire may have been deliberate.
In Nicosia, in the Strovolos area, a parked car caught fire at around 02:14. The flames were partially brought under control before firefighters arrived, and the causes of the incident are being investigated.
