New Minister of Health visits Paphos Hospital

The new head of the Cyprus Ministry of Health, Neophytos Charalambidis, made an unexpected working visit to Paphos General Hospital. It was his first visit to a medical institution after taking office — the minister wanted to see how the hospital operates “live”, in its normal day-to-day mode.
During the visit, he spoke with management and departmental staff and familiarized himself with key issues raised by local authorities: the progress of the expansion of the emergency department, the need for doctors in certain specialties, delays in reopening the hospital cafeteria, and the need to announce a competition for the position of executive director as soon as possible. The issue of administrative autonomy of Paphos Hospital from Limassol Hospital was also discussed separately.
