New Cuban Ambassador thanks Cyprus for solidarity and support
The new Cuban Ambassador to Nicosia, Rubén Pino Martínez, thanked Cypriots on Friday for the "solidarity and hospitality" that he said Cuba has felt for many years.
After presenting his credentials to Cyprus President Nikos Christodoulides, the diplomat noted the mutual respect and admiration existing between the two nations. He emphasized that Cuba consistently supports the right of the people of Cyprus to a "dignified, prosperous, and strong state," united by a peaceful future and the values of coexistence.
The Ambassador also declared his readiness to continue strengthening bilateral relations and cooperation, stressing that nothing should undermine the mutual will for understanding between the two friendly states.
Cuba and Cyprus have maintained diplomatic relations for over 65 years. Notably, in the UN General Assembly, the delegations of the two countries are traditionally seated next to each other due to alphabetical order.
