Omonia and Paphos Draw in First Ever All-Cypriot European Match
Cypriot football clubs Omonia and Paphos played to a 1-1 draw in the first ever all-Cypriot European match. The first leg of the UEFA Conference League playoffs took place on Thursday evening at the GSP Stadium in Nicosia.
This historic match marked the first time that two Cypriot teams faced each other in European competition. The hosts took the lead in the 51st minute with a goal from Willy Semedo. Paphos equalized in the 84th minute, with Mislav Oršić finding the back of the net.
The second leg will be held next Thursday at Alfamega Stadium in Limassol.
In other Conference League news, APOEL, the third Cypriot team in the competition, drew 2-2 away against Slovakia's Žilina, the reigning Slovakian champions. The return leg will take place next Thursday at the GSP Stadium.
