The Department of Forestry, under the Ministry of Agriculture, Rural Development, and Environment of the Republic of Cyprus, has released the schedule for Christmas tree sales.

According to the department, starting Wednesday, November 27, and running until Friday, December 20, the trees will be available for sale to the public at the following forestry stations: Atalassa, Larnaca, Dhekelia, Fassouri, Limassol, Geroskipou, Gialia, Panagia, and Platani. Contact details for these sales locations can be found in the photo below.

Christmas tree sales will be conducted on weekdays only, from Monday to Friday, between 08:00 and 14:30.

The department also clarified that the trees available for purchase are sourced from thinning operations in forest plantations, part of forestry management activities aimed at improving growing conditions and reducing competition within the forest ecosystems.

Additionally, the department reminded the public that, under the "Forest Law of 2012," the unauthorized cutting, storage, and transportation of Christmas trees without a permit from the Department of Forestry is illegal. Offenders can face fines of up to €5000 or imprisonment for up to one year (or both penalties combined).

Private tree owners are strongly encouraged to obtain the necessary permits for cutting and transporting trees in advance and to present these permits upon request when checked by forestry department staff.

Furthermore, before removing trees from the logging area, they must be stamped at the base (in cross-section) with the Forestry Department's official stamp, which includes the address of the nearest forestry station.
