Paphos Honoured with Prestigious European Quality Award
The Municipality of Paphos has received one of Europe’s most prestigious recognitions in the field of local governance — the European Label of Governance Excellence (ELoGE).
The award was presented during the official closing ceremony of the project “Strengthening Local Government Reform in Cyprus”, implemented by the National Certification Platform with the support of the Council of Europe.
Unlike theoretical evaluations, the ELoGE assessment process requires concrete, documented evidence showing how the municipality has put into practice the 12 Principles of Good Democratic Governance.
The award signifies that the Municipality of Paphos has not only made significant strides in governance but has also successfully applied these 12 principles in its day-to-day operations.
By receiving this award, Paphos joins a select group of European cities that have earned this prestigious certification.
“This honour is not the end of our efforts, but the beginning of a renewed commitment to a future built on modern, transparent, and democratic local governance — the kind our citizens deserve,” the municipality said in an official statement.
