Republic of Cyprus Passport Strengthens Slightly
International consulting firm Henley & Partners has released the Global Passport Index for 2024. The primary document of the Republic of Cyprus has moved up one spot, from 13th to 12th place.
According to the published ranking, in 2024, holders of the Cypriot passport can visit 182 out of 227 countries and territories without a visa.
When compiling the ranking, analysts from Henley & Partners assessed the travel opportunities for passport holders in 199 different countries. Documents were evaluated based on the ability to visit countries without a visa, with visa on arrival (VOA), and through electronic travel authority (ETA). The passport earned 1 point for meeting at least one of these conditions.
In the 2024 ranking, the Republic of Cyprus passport scored 182 points. In 2023, it was positioned at 13th place. Last year, holders of Cypriot citizenship could visit 180 countries without a visa.
The countries with the "strongest" passports in 2024 are France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Singapore, and Spain.
At the bottom of the ranking are Iraq (31 countries), Syria (29 countries), and Afghanistan, with only 28 countries.
