First Cypriot Film on Netflix Breaks Viewing Records
The first Cypriot film to be featured on Netflix has racked up over 14 million views in its first five days, quickly climbing to the top of the streaming platform's rankings.
Titled Find Me Falling, the film became the first-ever Cypriot movie to achieve global distribution on Netflix. The film premiered on July 19, and within its first week, it soared to the top of Netflix's Global Top 10.
The film was directed, written, and produced by Stelana Kliris, who was born in South Africa to Cypriot parents from Louvaras and Rizokarpaso. Kliris grew up in South Africa and moved to Cyprus in 2010. She has been working in the film industry for the past 20 years.
Find Me Falling marks her official debut as a feature-length filmmaker.
The romantic comedy tells the story of American rock star John Allman, who, after the failure of his latest album, decides to take a break from his career. He retreats to a secluded house near a cliff in Cyprus, which happens to be a well-known suicide hotspot. The lead role is played by Harry Connick Jr., alongside Agni Scott, Ali Fumiko Whitney, and Clarence Smith.
Despite its impressive performance on Netflix, Find Me Falling has received mixed reviews from critics.
