POED postponed the teachers’ evaluation strike until the plenary session
On Thursday, the POED primary school teachers’ union in Cyprus decided to postpone the strike scheduled for November 26 as a “gesture of goodwill”.
The decision предусматривает postponing the action until the plenary session if the final outcome of negotiations does not satisfy the union. The delay was announced following an initiative by the House of Representatives Education Committee to hold meetings with the relevant stakeholders.
In its statement, POED again expressed regret that the Ministry of Education had not submitted an agreed plan to parliament, noting the need for further discussions. The union’s message emphasizes its readiness to continue dialogue provided that teachers’ positions are taken into account.
For Cypriot residents, this means that the originally announced suspension of primary school teachers’ work on November 26 has been postponed until a decision by the plenary session and further negotiations between the union, the House committee, and the Ministry of Education.
