No Survivors Found Yet in Cyprus Shipwreck Search
Search and rescue efforts off the coast of Cyprus have now entered their fourth day following the sinking of a migrant vessel. Unfortunately, there is still no sign of the missing passengers.
On Wednesday evening, teams continued their efforts under the direction of the Larnaca Search and Rescue Coordination Center (SRC), but no survivors or additional bodies were found. The search operation resumed this morning.
The tragedy unfolded on Monday night when a boat carrying refugees capsized off the Cypriot coast. According to preliminary reports, there were 21 people onboard at the time. So far, at least seven deaths have been confirmed.
Rescue teams managed to pull two survivors from the water. One of them reported that the passengers were Syrians who had set sail from the Mediterranean port city of Tartus.
The Joint Rescue Coordination Center (JRCC) remains in charge of the search for those still unaccounted for. However, as of now, no further traces of survivors or wreckage have been found.
