Limassol Police Solve Theft of 150 Vinyl Records from DJ
Limassol police have arrested a 36-year-old man in connection with the theft of 150 vinyl records from a local DJ.
According to the police press office, the 41-year-old victim reported that on March 24, a bag containing 150 vinyl records worth 3,500 euros, along with other personal belongings, was stolen from his car.
Two days later, the victim received a call from a friend who owns a shop in Nicosia. The friend told him that someone had sent him photos and videos of the stolen vinyl records, claiming they had belonged to a deceased relative. The DJ immediately recognized the items from the images.
Police traced the suspect after investigating the phone number from which the photos and videos were sent, using a special app to identify the individual. The suspect, a 36-year-old man with a previous criminal record, was subsequently located and arrested.
The man appeared in Limassol court today, where the judge ordered his detention for five days.
During questioning, the suspect claimed that a friend had given him the stolen records, saying he found them in a trash bin. However, his story was contradicted by surveillance footage.
